📜 1. GENERAL TERMS
Welcome to Checkpoint Lounge! By making a booking or visiting our venue, you agree to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before booking.
Checkpoint Lounge is a family-friendly retro gaming venue operating in Hartlepool. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, with the current version always available on our website.
"We", "us", and "our" refers to Checkpoint Lounge. "You" and "your" refers to the customer making the booking or visiting our venue.
🎮 2. BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS
Opening Hours
- Friday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Hours may vary on bank holidays and special occasions. Check our website or social media for updates.
Session Types & Pricing
- Hourly: £8 per adult / £6 per child (under 16)
- Half Day: £18 per adult / £12 per child (up to 4 hours)
- All Day: £22 per adult / £15 per child (unlimited)
- Birthday Party: £150 (2 hours, up to 12 children)
Booking Confirmation
All bookings are subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation email with your booking reference. Please bring this reference when you visit.
💡 TIP: Arrive 10 minutes before your session start time to get set up and make the most of your gaming time!
Payment
Payment is required at the venue on arrival unless otherwise arranged. We accept cash and card payments.
❌ 3. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
Standard Bookings
- Cancellations made 48+ hours before: Full refund or reschedule
- Cancellations made 24-48 hours before: 50% refund or reschedule
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours before: No refund
Birthday Parties
- Cancellations made 7+ days before: Full refund or reschedule
- Cancellations made 3-7 days before: 50% refund
- Cancellations made less than 3 days before: No refund
No-Shows
If you fail to arrive within 30 minutes of your booking time without notice, your booking may be cancelled and offered to other customers. No refund will be provided.
Our Cancellations
In the unlikely event we need to cancel your booking (equipment failure, emergency closure, etc.), we will offer a full refund or reschedule at your convenience.
👥 4. ADMISSION & SUPERVISION
Age Policy
Checkpoint Lounge welcomes all ages! We are a family-friendly venue.
- Children under 8: Must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times
- Children aged 8-15: May play unsupervised but a parent/guardian must remain on the premises
- Ages 16+: Considered adults for pricing and supervision purposes
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Parents and guardians are responsible for their children's behaviour and safety at all times. We reserve the right to ask families to leave if children are unsupervised or behaving inappropriately.
Capacity
We have 10 gaming stations. Maximum venue capacity is limited for safety and comfort. During busy periods, we may operate a waiting system.
⭐ 5. CODE OF CONDUCT
To ensure everyone has a great time, we ask all visitors to:
- Treat staff, equipment, and other visitors with respect
- Handle gaming equipment carefully - report any issues to staff
- Keep noise levels reasonable
- No food or drinks near gaming equipment (designated areas provided)
- No running in the venue
- Follow staff instructions at all times
Prohibited Behaviour
The following will result in immediate removal without refund:
- Aggressive, abusive, or threatening behaviour
- Deliberate damage to equipment or property
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Harassment of staff or other customers
- Theft or attempted theft
Equipment Care
Our vintage gaming equipment is precious! Please treat it with care. You may be held liable for damage caused by misuse or negligence.
🎂 6. BIRTHDAY PARTIES
What's Included
- 2 hours exclusive use of gaming stations
- Up to 12 children
- Dedicated party host
- Party area for food and cake
Party Rules
- At least one adult must remain on premises for the duration
- Additional children beyond 12 will be charged at £6 per child
- You may bring your own food, cake, and decorations
- Please take all decorations and rubbish with you at the end
- Party booking time includes setup and cleanup - please be prompt
Allergies & Dietary Requirements
Please inform us of any allergies or special requirements when booking. While we don't provide food, we need to be aware for safety purposes.
🏥 7. HEALTH & SAFETY
Photosensitive Epilepsy Warning
⚠️ WARNING: Some video games contain flashing lights and patterns that may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. If you or anyone in your party has epilepsy or a history of seizures, please consult a doctor before playing and inform our staff.
General Safety
- Fire exits are clearly marked - familiarise yourself on arrival
- First aid kit available - inform staff of any injuries
- Report any hazards or equipment faults immediately
- Bags and personal items are your responsibility
Screen Time
We recommend taking regular breaks during extended gaming sessions. Our staff may remind you to take breaks, especially for younger players.
Illness
Please do not visit if you are unwell, particularly with contagious illnesses. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who appears unwell.
⚖️ 8. LIABILITY
Our Liability
Checkpoint Lounge maintains appropriate insurance and takes reasonable steps to ensure visitor safety. However:
- We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings
- We are not liable for injuries caused by customer negligence or failure to follow rules
- Our liability is limited to the cost of your booking
Your Liability
You are responsible for:
- Your own belongings and those of anyone in your party
- Supervising children in your care
- Any damage caused by you or anyone in your party through negligence or misuse
Damage to Equipment
Accidental damage during normal use will not be charged. However, damage caused by misuse, negligence, or deliberate action may result in charges to cover repair or replacement costs.

When you book with us, we collect:
- Name and contact details (email, phone)
- Booking preferences and history
- Any special requirements you tell us about
How We Use Your Data
- To confirm and manage your bookings
- To contact you about your visit

Your Rights
You can request to see, update, or delete your data at any time by contacting us. We will never sell your data to third parties.
Photography
We may take photos or videos for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform staff. Photos of children will only be used with explicit parental consent.
